Intensive Academic English Professor General Education Department Position: Intensive Academic English Professor Status: Full-time Program: General Education Department Deadline: Open until filled The General Education Department at the American University of Central Asia invites applications from candidates for 1 full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to the Intensive Academic English, First Year Seminar (FYSem) and Second Year Seminar Program. SUMMARY OF POSITION The faculty position will involve teaching at least six undergraduate-level courses a year (three per semester) in Intensive Academic English and First Year Seminar. The Intensive Academic English is a proficiency-oriented course focused on improving and strengthening English language for high-level daily communication (written and verbal) and academic study. The course prepares and aids students for the FYSem and English Composition courses that are core General Education requirements for the joint AUCA̧–Bard College degree, focusing on developing and enhancing students’ basic competencies and skills in academic writing, reading, thinking, and speaking. Responsibilities also include advising, thesis supervision, and service activities at the departmental and university levels. REQUIREMENTS
