An internship is a pre-professional, educational experience, where students have an opportunity to enhance their theoretical knowledge by applying it in practice. The main goal of an internship is for students to gain practical skills related to their specializations in a real-world work setting. The responsibility lies with students to choose an Internship site.
European Studies graduates spent their Internship in research centers, political parties, touristic agencies, translation agencies; TV and Radio, intercultural traineeship programs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, non-governmental organizations (NGO), HR office, local, national, and international government services, embassies and projects.
INTERNSHIP I is a part of the departmental requirement in the 3-d year of study.
It is expected to choose a site where a student will be able to gain concrete practical skills in a particular field related to European Studies. All proposed INTERNSHIP sites must be declared by the student and approved by the departmental supervisor. Generally, the internship should involve a minimum of four weeks of full-time work (160 working hours in total).
Expectations:
An internship is a multi-dimensional experience and students should expect to benefit in several ways. During their internships, they will have a chance to:
Evaluation: Although INTERNSHIP is a practical work, it is also counted as an academic course and is academically supervised (theory-practice reflection) by ES department. After completing the internship, students must submit a report in accordance with departmental guidelines. The student needs to demonstrate his results during the oral (Power Point) presentation. Best presentation will be published on the ES website. Finally, students need to write a critical essay (theory-practice reflection) addressing four issues - skills gained during the internship, possibilities for further growth, things that were not accomplished and overall evaluation.
INTERNSHIP II is a part of the departmental requirement in the 4-th year of study.
It is a Translation Internship organized by European Studies for Seniors in French, German and Spanish languages as a 3-credits course.
Our translation internship provides students the opportunity to learn from a firsthand perspective, how to interpret languages and to gain some professional translation experience. The work is revised by an experienced teacher-translator. We will contact touristic agencies to organize your participation in written or/and oral translation of documents, PR materials, letters and/or guide tour.
