June 4, 2016, James Mirrlees, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, will lecture titled “The Economics of Inequality” the American University of Central Asia. Sir James Mirrlees will discuss the potential of taxes and subsidies to be used as a systematic tool for effectively fighting economic disparity

Anastasiia Shevtsova, a junior in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at the American University of Central Asia, is finishing up her exchange semester at Collegium Civitas (CC) in Poland. She took a moment to share her thoughts with us on life abroad in Poland.

Starting from the 2016-2017 academic year, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) will have two new departments: the Department of Television, Cinematography and Visual Art and the Department of Applied Geology. Heads of the new departments spoke about their new programs at a press-conference on May 19, 2016.

April 30, 2016, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) held an Open Doors Day for its Master’s programs. Attendees received materials explaining the programs’ application procedures, listened to guest lectures relevant to each program, and sat in on seminars explaining the benefits of getting a Master’s at AUCA.

Good news! Professor Cholpon Chotaeva’s English-language lecture book on the history of Kyrgyzstan is being republished. Hard copies are now available for purchase!

Earlier this month [add link to article], AUCA Professor of Anthropology Cholpon Chotaeva gave a presentation on her newly published lecture book the History of Kyrgyzstan, written in English for an English-speaking audience. Professor Chotaeva, a Doctor of Historical Sciences, is the Coordinator of the Anthropology and Sociology Departments at AUCA.
