On January 10th 2014, two students of Journalism and Mass Communications at AUCA won in the national online photo contest "Authentic stories of life" that has been organized on the eve of an international photo exhibition of World Press Photo 2014. Aipery Janyzak took 1st place in the contest while Tatyana Esaulenko won the audience choice award.  

If you are walking through the administrative offices here at the American University of Central Asia, you might be surprised to find a new nameplate. Where the Development Office used to be, is now the home of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Dr. Karim Zerhouni.

Students from the Journalism and Mass Communications department of the Cultural Reporting class, taught by Laura Kelly, published a magazine called "Juicy".

On December 10th, 2014, AUCA President Andrew Wachtel, Vice President for Finance Talant Sultanov, and Head of Software Engineering Department Almaz Bakenov participated in the first Central Asian Symposium on the Internet, “Prospects of development of the Internet in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

The "Kelechek" (future) Kyrgyz language club and the Kyrgyz language department have organized the week of 'Chyngyz Aitmatov' dedicated to his life and work which coincides with his birthday on the 12th of December.

On December 11th, 2014, the American University of Central Asia hosted a professor from Northwestern University, Dr. Brian Edwards. In a lecture entitled “Shrek in Casablanca, Ben Affleck in Tehran:

At the American University of Central Asia, there is a certain holiday cheer in the air. Maybe it is because of the upcoming holidays, but it could be more likely that classes have ended, and there are only final exams between the students and their vacation (the professors and staff too).

The European & American Studies departments is proud to announce that 4 of its students will be traveling to Spain this winter on BECAS scholarships.

On December 8th, 2014, the American University of Central Asia hosted Ms. Rabia Daudpota, a visiting research scholar and attorney from Karachi, Pakistan who gave a special presentation entitled “Marriage by Choice: A Right or a Crime?”

On the 4th of December, International Volunteer Day was celebrated at the American University of Central Asia through a daylong event organized by UN Volunteers.
