Tinatin Osmonova: “I'm very motivated to do more interesting research to travel a lot, and to meet new people”
Tinatin Osmonova, an Economics Master’s student at the American University of Central Asia. After graduating from the AUCA’s Economics Department last year, she decided to stay at her Alma Mater and do her best to continue being a good economist. In April 2017, she participated at the Sixth Annual Smolny International Student Conference where she presented her undergraduate thesis work.

The AUCA Chess Club was created to get people to play chess at the University. The Club encourages people of all levels of experience to play and offers a friendly, constructive, and social platform for chess enthusiasts. The Club sends also teams to the Universiada.

Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) is pleased to report that the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN) prize committee have selected article by Dr. Mohira Suyarkulova as the winner of the Henry Huttenbach prize for the best article published in Nationalities Papers journal in 2016.

SPEAKER: Nathan Light, PhD, Researcher at Uppsala University, Sweden
Abstract: This lecture considers the past 60 years of social and cultural anthropological research in Central Asia explores what has held the field back for so long, and why and how it has become so productive in the past decade. I seek to stimulate a conversation about the value and potential of anthropology of Central Asia, and the reasons it has been slow to develop as an academic field.
