Today we want to introduce you to Frank G. Karioris, an Assistant Professor in Sociology and General Education. Professor Karioris has a PhD in Comparative Gender Studies with a Specialization in Sociology & Social Anthropology, an MA in Social Development, and a BA in History and Education.

On September 13-15, 2016 Doris Jones, a visiting scholar from the American University in Cairo (AUC) Department of Rhetoric and Composition, held workshops for AUCA faculty.

The AUCA Outdoor Club had its first expedition
This past weekend AUCA's newest club, the AUCA Outdoor Club, had its first ever expedition – and what an expedition it was!
Lead by two of this summer’s Eco Leadership Program (ELP) Alumni, students from the AUCA Outdoor Club attended the Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan’s annual ‘Meeting of the Tourists’ in Kegeti Gorge to show off their Outdoor Skills and compete in trekking and camping competitions against students from four other Bishkek Universities.

Associate VP at Bard Institute for Writing & Thinking Peg Peoples conducts workshops with Faculty and Staff at AUCA
 
On September 7-11, 2016, Peg Peoples, the Associate Vice President for Education Initiatives at the Bard Institute for Writing & Thinking, visited the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) to meet and conduct workshops with faculty and staff members. She visited NGA, the WARC, FYS, GenEd, and talked with directors, faculty, and tutors.

CASI 5th Annual Conference: Contesting Nature in Central Asia
The Central Asian Studies Institute hosted its Fifth Annual Conference on “Contesting Nature in Central Asia” on September 16-17, 2016 at AUCA. The conference gathered scholars from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, presenting their research related to the issues of environmental history, political ecology and anthropology of human-environment relations in the region.

AUCA’s best students recognized by President at Knowledge Day Award Ceremony
September 9th, 2016 the Knowledge Day took place at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA). Andrew Wachtel, AUCA president awarded the best students for their academic excellence. The students who had made the President’s List and the Dean’s List took the certificates during the ceremony.
