Starting from the 2016-2017 academic year, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) will have two new departments: the Department of Television, Cinematography and Visual Art and the Department of Applied Geology. Andrew Wachtel, the president of the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), met with Nadya Zhuravleva, a representative of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension program. The mission of the UCLA Extension is to provide extraordinary learning experiences for adults of all ages.

AUCA invites all interested high school students in 10th or 11th grade to participate in our annual spring Math Competition organized by the division of science. The Math Competition will be held at 10:00 AM on April 24, 2016.

Last academic year ,2014-2015, the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) gave grants to 25 sophomores, 24 juniors, and 13 seniors. Khamida Malianchinova, a senior in Journalism and Mass Communications, shares her SILC experience.

The members of the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) told about their work to an audience of students. The SILC members gave advice on how to write applications for SILC grants, pointed out common application mistakes, reminded applicants of what is mandatory and important for applying for a SILC grant, and provided information on what grant-winners must provide after returning to AUCA.

On November 6th of 2015, the AUCA Student Senate held elections with an electronic voting system and a biometric system of authentication. 10 students were elected to the Student Senate.
