On September 21, 2013, AUCA, USAID, the Roza Otunbaeva Initiative, US Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan, and UN Volunteers will host a Volunteering Festival on the Old Square from 13:00 to 18:00. The goal of the festival is to have young people commit to 1,000 hours of volunteer service.
The Volunteer Festival will also launch the website WWW.VOLUNTEER.KG, a new online resource where volunteers can create and find volunteer projects in their communities.
Please find below a full schedule of events:
10:00 – 13:00 – Volunteering For Families. Families with children between 3-10 are welcome to participate in a project to make Bishkek more beautiful. AUCA’s Continuing Education Center, in partnership with AKME, will help Kyrgyzstan’s youngest citizens to realize how fun it is to give back!
13:00 – 13:30 – Registration for Volunteer Festival on Old Square in front of AUCA.
13:30 – Opening of Volunteer Festival
13:45 – Special appearance by Kanykei, Saadat Chokubaeva, and Oakland
14:00 – 17:30 – Volunteering Projects. All participants will spend 3 hours volunteering at different sites organized by AUCA, Roza Otunbaeva Initiative, US Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan, UN Volunteers, AIESEC, UN Women, Rotaract, and several others.
