On January 25, American University of Central Asia put on the annaul Diversity Week Festival, dedicated to AUCA's 20th anniversary, in the Kyrgyz National Theater of Opera and Ballet.
Diasporas of the Assembly of Kyrgyzstan also participated in the show; they performed with AUCA students, showed national dances and sang songs. Uzbeks, Caucasians, Tajiks, Slavs, Dungans, Tatars, Kyrgyzs, Uygurs, Chinese, Americans, Afghanis, and Koreans all put on expressive performances.
The event was opened with a short welcoming speech by Andrew Wachtel , AUCA President, and Bektemir Murzubraimov , the Chair of the Assembly of Kyrgyzstan. The festival was very rich in content: all the participants put on detailed and emotional performances that demonstrated not only the diversity of nations, but also the diversity of talent at AUCA.
The annual festival was also celebrating its 10th anniversary, all of which have been under the direction of Nikolai Shulgin, Dean of Student Life.
