On March 8th, Sophia Siddiqi (fourth-year student of the Economics program) participated in the Women in Data Science Conference held at Stanford University. As a Women in Data Science Ambassador, Sophia had the chance to hear from esteemed women who work in companies such as Boeing, Apple, and Google. The conference focused on digital economies, child safety and health, sustainability, and space. A keynote was provided by Sandra Moerch, the global content marketing manager at Autodesk, on whether artificial intelligence poses a threat to human creativity. 

 

 

Women in Data Science previously inspired Sophia to create the Women in Data Science Club at AUCA, and participation in the conference allowed her to see the vast opportunities available in the field of Data Science. 

 

 

In regard to her experience, Sophia noted: "I am extremely grateful to AUCA, especially Student Affairs and the Economics department, for the support and making it possible to attend the conference. I encourage my fellow students, especially female students, to take advantage of the Data Science certification program at AUCA."
