Dear AUCA Family!
An eventful year for the American University of Central Asia is drawing to a close, and I would like to take this opportunity to highlight remarkable moments and thank you for your tireless commitment and dedication to our university.
I joined the AUCA team in August 2023, and on my first visit to Bishkek, I met wonderful colleagues and students. I now know that academic, scientific, and extracurricular activities are carried out at the highest level and this year is no exception. In addition to its academic life, AUCA is actively involved in the life of the city, which is confirmed by a large number of socially significant events held at the university.
AUCA students remain our main stakeholders in the university. Our students exceed the high educational standards and take an active part in university events both academically and non-academically. I am proud that talented, purposeful, and responsible students study at our university. We aim to create the most favorable conditions for professional self-realization of AUCA students. We aim to strengthen their personal, professional, and academic skills as one of the main focuses of our attention. AUCA intends to give maximum opportunities combined with our students’ perseverance that will help in the realization of the potential inherent in each student of AUCA.
As an educational institution that provides a platform for students to meet creative, capable, and professional people and feel part of a larger community, we continue to cultivate academic honesty and civic awareness among students to strengthen the statehood of the Kyrgyz Republic and other Central Asian countries.
Having looked at the large-scale list of tasks, we can imagine that the implementation of major goals requires the well-coordinated work of the entire team in which members root for the fate of the university and at the same time take care of each other. In this concept, each member - regardless of position and other criteria - is important and valuable, and each of us at AUCA has a unique role.
AUCA Faculty is not only a lecturer within this system, but a real mentor helping students to develop personally and professionally. Our faculty members are like a candle consuming themselves to light the way for others. You deserve respect and admiration for your tireless commitment and dedication to our university. It is encouraging to see how our professors are contributing to the development of AUCA, continuously growing and improving their professional skills. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the improvement of academic life at AUCA and will continue to do so in the future.
AUCA Staff, including chairs of programs and directors of administrative units, play significant roles at the university level. Daily operations and the functioning of the entire university system depend on the work of the staff determining further course of action and development of the university. I express my gratitude to all staff members, administrators, and managers, for your hard work and dedication to our university. I have heard and seen during the last few months that the AUCA community is a family and the university team is working to create an environment in which current and future students feel comfortable and welcomed. Faculty and staff put their efforts into the development of the university for our students and the university’s success. I would like to inspire you to focus on mutual support and provide constructive feedback to open up the possibility of creating a positive synergy among all employees.
In 2024, AUCA will establish new international ties. It will focus on developing existing strategic partnerships to strengthen its position in the international academic community while promoting and implementing joint scientific and educational projects with local and international partners. AUCA will become a platform for the development of making - a direction that allows each person to be introduced to technological creativity and personal digital production. Such a production system is made possible by the convergence of material and information, and the transition from the idea to the creation of a prototype or already finished product becomes a faster and more accessible process. The Makerspace Learning and Design Center will begin its work in Spring 2024 and will open the door to everyone, who is ready to create and invent. We expect that the activities of the Makerspace Learning and Design Center will contribute to the technological and economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is one of the most important goals of the American University in Central Asia. The completion of this project will bring the university and the city much closer together where AUCA will present processes and innovations to a science and technology-loving community and beyond.
On behalf of my colleagues on the AUCA Management team, I would like to wish you a happy and peaceful New Year and Christmas with your families.
Best wishes for the Holidays, and health and happiness throughout the coming year!
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
Sincerely, Timothy
