October 4, 2023
Green October-2023 started in AUCA! And the Green Month begins with the grand opening of the art object "Full Basket" on the territory outside AUCA and the presentation of its author, artist Steven Siegel, USA.
You probably all saw how it was created right before our eyes from September 29 to October 4. We invite everyone to this interesting event!
AUCA, October 6, Forum, 12:05 – 13:00
Admission is free.
The installation is dedicated to textile waste and is designed to draw attention to this problem.
In Kyrgyzstan, the problem of textile waste is very relevant, because the waste of garment industries is most often either burned by households for heating housing, or simply thrown into landfill by tons (both the first and the second are dangerous for the environment). Local eco-activists Bermet Borubayeva and Aimeerim Tursalieva will tell about the situation around textile waste and the results of their research on this topic during the event.
Steven Siegel is a prominent environmental artist born in White Plains, New York in 1953, and best known for his public art commissions and site-specific installations created from recycled materials. After graduating from Hampshire College (1976) in Amherst, Massachusetts, he received a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY (1978).
The program of the event:
12:05 – 12:10 – Welcome speech by AUCA President Timothy O'Connor
