The American University of Central Asia (AUCA) cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the Night of Law 2023. This event, held on October 4th throughout France seeks to showcase the workings of democracy and human rights institutions. The date marks the anniversary of the Constitution of the French Fifth Republic, which fostered the revitalization of democratic institutions and the progress of the rule of law in France.

In this jubilee year, marking the 65th anniversary of the French Constitution and the 30th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's first Fundamental law, AUCA is pleased to present a screening of the film "La Loi" (2014, directed by Christian Faure). The film chronicles the three-day parliamentary debates surrounding the adoption of the law on voluntary termination of pregnancy proposed by Simone Veil in 1974, who became a national heroine of France.

The film will be presented in French with Russian subtitles.

Following the film screening, we will host a discussion on the role of parliament as a tool for public dialogue in advancing social progress, the empowerment of women in political life, and the development of legal safeguards to protect women's rights in contemporary society.

À l'occasion de la Nuit du Droit 2023, qui se tiendra le 4 octobre, et pour célébrer le double anniversaire - les 30 ans de la première Constitution kirghize et les 65 ans de la Constitution française, l'Université américaine d'Asie centrale a le plaisir de vous convier à une soirée thématique.

Projection du film «La loi, le combat d'une femme pour toutes les femmes» (2014), qui relate le combat parlementaire de Simone Veil pour légalisation de l'avortement en France, avec sous-titres en russe, suivie d’une discussion avec la salle.

L'événement s'articule en quatre temps :

19:30-20.00: ouverture officielle, une courte présentation des idées politiques de Simone Veil, ainsi que le contexte politique et social d’adoption de la loi sur l'IVG en 1974

20.00-21.30: la projection du film «La loi (2014) »

 21.30-22.00: une discussion avec la salle sur des sujets tels que le rôle du parlement dans l'avancement des questions sociétales, la place des femmes dans la vie politique, ainsi que l'évolution des outils juridiques pour promouvoir et protéger les droits des femmes.

22.00-22.30: La retransmission en direct du discours du Président Emmanuel Macron devant le Conseil Constitutionnel à l'occasion du 65e anniversaire de la Constitution de la Ve République (facultatif).
