My name is Aizhamal Duishonbekova, and I have graduated from Economics Department at AUCA in 2023. Reflecting on my five years of studying at AUCA, I can say that it was a transformative experience, both academically and personally. From the moment I was accepted into the NGA preparatory program, I knew AUCA would provide the necessary opportunities for my growth and future career aspirations
The NGA preparatory program allowed me to explore myself, become better prepared for university life, and ultimately finalize my choice of a future profession. While initially considering Business Administration, I decided to be on Economics due to its wide-ranging study areas, including Business.
Being part of the NGA program also brought me closer to a group of amazing students who later became my closest friends, supporting each other throughout our four years at AUCA. Beyond academics, AUCA offered numerous extracurricular activities and clubs that enriched my student life.
Being inspired by the diversity and creativity of AUCA students, I was determined to share this spirit with my village schools. As a result, I organized and led several youth empowerment projects in collaboration with OSUN and SIDP. Additionally, AUCA's partnerships with international institutes provided me with opportunities to attend exchange programs, summer schools, and conferences. During my junior year, I had the life-changing chance to study abroad in Poland and actively participate in various Erasmus plus projects. Moreover, I attended a workshop on Public Finance and Economic Policy at Bard College in the US, and I am currently enrolled in a summer school at CEU in Budapest, which was also organized by OSUN. These experiences reaffirmed AUCA's commitment to international standards of education.
Furthermore, I worked as a math tutor at the Writing and Academic Center, where I not only assisted other students but also deepened my understanding of my field of study.
After completing my undergraduate studies at AUCA, I was accepted into the OSCE Academy in Bishkek for the MA in Economic Governance and Development Program. I am incredibly excited about the academic curriculum and the prospect of internships in Europe, which the program offers. I am confident that this program will fill any knowledge gaps and enhance my understanding of economics and governance, empowering me to drive positive changes in my community's economy. I am grateful to the Economics Department staff and all my professors at AUCA for their dedication and hard work, which prepared me well for my future studies.
To all current and future students of AUCA, I strongly recommend embracing all the opportunities the university offers. Engage in various extracurricular activities, join clubs, participate in exchange programs, and seek internships. These experiences will not only complement your education but also contribute significantly to your personal and professional growth. Follow your dreams, be proactive, and make the most of your time at AUCA.
