Do you know an organization that can bring together members from 28 universities from all over the world?
Open Society University Network (OSUN) does provide its affiliated institutions with this great opportunity. American University of Central Asia is one of the affiliated institutions within the OSUN Network. This year the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) has been honored to host participants of various initiatives: two cohorts from The Center for Liberal Arts and Sciences Pedagogy (CLASP) Global Debate Network, and Student Life Initiatives Project. The event gathered administrative staff, faculty members, and students. Three AUCA professors, Dr. Görkem Atsungur, Chair of International Comparative Politics Department and Head of Social Science Division, Dr. Jarkyn Shadymanova, Associate Professor of the Sociology department, and Dr. Ekaterina Galimova, Associate Professor from GenEd participated in a series of CLASP workshops devoted to student-centered teaching methods, writing-based teaching, and experiential learning.
It is worth mentioning that the AUCA professors had an opportunity to not only be acquainted with their colleagues from various countries, and share their experience in writing teaching but also to launch new and expand present projects. For instance, Dr. Ekaterina Galimova was able to intrigue two more colleagues and encourage them to participate in the eighth Virtual Discussion between AUCA (Kyrgyzstan), BRAC University (Bangladesh), and Parami University (Myanmar) students in the spring semester. Dr. Görkem Atsungur and Dr. Jarkyn Shadymanova worked on how to integrate innovative teaching methods and tools based on experiential learning, student-centered classrooms and writing-based courses in the Social Sciences Division.
