“As some of you may have seen in news reports, President Kuchins was asked to report today to the Ministry of the Interior for questioning in connection with his alleged importation of a medicine that is not approved for use in Kyrgyzstan. The medicine involved is approved for use in the United States, was prescribed for his use by his doctor in the U.S. for a medical condition, and was sent to him by mail from one of the largest U.S. pharmacies in the ordinary course of its business. We regret the confusion that recent press reports have created surrounding this matter, and are hopeful that once the facts of the matter can be clarified with the authorities this matter will be resolved quickly and appropriately. Our thoughts are with Dr. Kuchins and his wife Lilia at this challenging moment.”
