Please join The New Star in welcoming guest speaker Janyl Jusupjan for a discussion of storytelling across media. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 20th, at 6PM Bishkek Time (Zoom information below).

Jusupjan is an independent filmmaker, writer, journalist, and podcaster. Originally from Kyrgyzstan, she currently lives and works in France. She worked for Radio Free Europe for over 20 years before leaving to pursue filmmaking. Her current film project, Atirkül and Her Chevaliers, is a documentary about a woman who manages a kok boru team. She is also the creator of the podcast Chaï Latte & Salt, which is devoted to Central Asian culture and has covered such topics as felt art, Manas, and sufi music. The New Star invites you to our discussion with Jusupjan on her work and how she crafts stories for radio, film, and new media.
