AUCA Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Leading Indian University

The American University of Central Asia signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Chandigarh, a leading university in India, located in the state of Punjab. AUCA’s Vice President and Chief Operation Officer, Dr. Chingiz Shamshiev and Vice Chancellor of the Chandigarh Unniversity, Dr. Rajinder Singh Bawa put their signatures on the document on Wednesday, September 12.

Dr. Rajan Sharma, Chandigarh University’s Deputy Director of International Relations Office, Asel Umetalieva, head of AUCA’s International Students Office, Jildiz Nishaparova, head of AUCA’s Research Office and Gulsana Jumakadyrova, head of AUCA’s Admissions and Recruitment Office also took part in the event.

During the meeting, the two sides shared information about their respective institutions. Dr. Shamshiev spoke of the future projects at AUCA, while Dr. Singh Bawa discussed how education at the University of Chandigarh is conducted online using the latest technologies. He also spoke of the University of Chandigarh’s graduates’ employment prospects and the use of the social media in connecting students to university administration.

• Exploring short- and long-term exchange opportunities such as summer school, semester abroad, articulation and other exchange opportunities
• Enrollment at Master’s and Ph.D-level programs
• Exploring opportunities for exchange for faculty, research and administrative staff
• Joint supervision of students in Master’s and Ph.D. programs
• Increased awareness of academic programs, research institutes and educational resources at AUCA and University of Chandigarh among faculty and students
• Joint workshops, conference and publishing projects
• Cultural exchange
• Identifying other avenues of potential collaboration
