AUCA Vis Moot team is preparing in Moscow for the 24th Willem Vis Moot

This year, AUCA Law Division participates in the Annual Willem Vis Moot Competition in International Commercial Arbitration for the second time. This is a very prestigious competition in the area of international arbitration and sales law that takes place every year from September to April. Law Division has a special 2-credit course that specifically covers this competition. All students enrolled to the course are involved in research and writing of 2 legal memoranda for the competition. These legal memoranda require a tremendous amount of work and result in two 50 page long written memoranda: one for Claimant, another for Respondent. On the basis of these memos, students then prepare for oral hearings to be held in Vienna, Austria.

 This year, AUCA Vis Moot team went for the pre-moot organized by the Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University from 16^th to 29^th of March, 2017. Pre-moots are held all over the world in order to help Vis Moot participants to prepare for the final hearings in Vienna in April.

 The selection of students was made by the committee that included coaches (Assistant Professors Kanykei Kasybekoba & Dinara Asanbaeva), Law Division Associate Professor Steven Kessell, and Mr. Jomart Joldoshev (sponsor).

 AUCA Team’s trip to Moscow became possible thanks to the kind support of the Jomart & Partners Law Firm. Mr. Jomart Joldoshev and his firm covered all expenses of students; their representative, Ms. Makhabat Tilebalieva, accompanied students to Moscow and provided all necessary support.
