The American University of Central Asia (AUCA) provides consulting services to individual entrepreneurs, companies and organizations in Kyrgyz Republic through a university Business Clinic. The target group of AUCA’s Business Clinic is entrepreneurs and small organizations, mainly operating in Bishkek. The Business Clinic provides the following services:
- Business planning;
- Analysis of personnel motivation;
- Analysis of company market positions;
- Selection of target market;
- Company (product) product promotion in the relevant market;
- Market research;
- Financial arrangements and solving problems in business development.
A team working on one project may take 3-4 weeks. AUCA students have already contributed to many famous companies in 2015, having implemented 7 large projects.
The Business Clinic team consists of AUCA students, an overwhelming majority of whom are seniors in Business Administration. At the moment, the Clinic is headed by Jamilia Klycheva, a senior in Business Administration. Each Clinic head is appointed by the previous head and confirmed by the whole team.
Students can apply to join the Business Clinic by sending their CVs to busclinic@auca.kg. Preferably, applicants are students from Business Administration with expertise in finance, marketing, logistics, IT, and management. The Business Clinic team will interview potential candidates. Applicants making it this far must finally demonstrate their responsible approach to work during a two-week probationary period.
“Anyone with problems starting and developing their business can be our customer. The Business Clinic is not just about making contacts, getting real work experience, or practicing problem solving. There is an actual responsibility to accuracy, understanding, flexibility and patience. In other words, this is an experience that will serve for us for the rest of our lives.
“Working in the Business Clinic is a background for a future career. Our students improve their communication skills with customers. This skill becomes the cornerstone of our future job. We learn to think critically and creatively. Practice improves critical thinking skills, distinguishing our students from the rest. The priceless experience acquired in our clinic makes our students more independent and self-assured specialists.
“I wish our students wouldn’t just sit without doing anything. Even if you are a freshman, you might think there are 4 years ahead to do something, but this is not an excuse to do nothing. Broaden your circle of social contacts, get new experiences, create something, move step-by-step, but don’t be inactive, don’t be afraid that you look foolish. Everything begins with baby steps, afterwards it will be much easier!” said Jamilia Klycheva, head of AUCA Business Clinic.
*The AUCA Business Clinic was created using the experiences of similar groups in American universities. The Clinic is a structural unit of AUCA, operating within the Business Administration (BA) and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. The Business Clinic was established with the intention of improving the education and development of the business activity of entrepreneurs.
