Nobel Laureate Sir James Mirrlees to give lecture at AUCA

June 4, 2016, James Mirrlees, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, will lecture titled “The Economics of Inequality” the American University of Central Asia.

James Mirrlees – Emeritus Professor of Political Economy, and winner of the 1996 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, member of the Scottish Council of Economic Consultants, Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and Founding Master of the Morningside College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  

In an era of international financial crises and their economic and political aftershocks, economic disparity is again at the center of the global discussion on poverty.

Sir James Mirrlees will discuss the potential of taxes and subsidies to be used as a systematic tool for effectively fighting economic disparity
