In partnership with the Estonian Institute of Human Rights and the University of Tartu, the Law Division of AUCA conducted a one-week intensive modular course entitled “Contemporary issues in International Humanitarian law” within the framework of “Transnational Partnerships for the Promotion and Advancement of Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan”. The course took place March 14-March 18, 2016.
The course was taught by Dr René Värk. Dr René Värk is an associate professor of International Law and the Deputy Head of the Department of Public Law in the University of Tartu’s Faculty of Law. He has two bachelor degrees (law and history), a master’s degree in public international law and doctorate in law. He is a regular guest lecturer at the Estonian School of Diplomacy, the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences and the Baltic Defence College, and has also taught at several other Estonian and foreign institutions. This course was among four other courses offered by the Law Division and conducted by professors at the University of Tartu.
