Rahat Sabyrbekov, an assistant professor of the Economics Department at AUCA, was selected as a Young Fellow at the United Nations Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Rahat will be the co-author of Regional and subregional assessment on Europe and Central-Asia. The first authors’ meeting is going to be from August 31 – September 4, 2015 in Engelberg, Switzerland.
“As a Young Fellow I will take part as a contributing author to the chapter of the assessment on land degradation and restoration,” said Rahat Sabyrbekov. This publication will contribute to Sabyrbekov’s PhD thesis on the valuation of ecosystem services at NMBU.
According to IPBES, the assessment will be based on the scoping report for the regional assessment of Europe and Central-Asia, which the 3rd Plenary of IPBES approved in January 2015.
