Two AUCA students, Altynai Jusupova and Akyl Callaghan, recently represented Kyrgyzstan as the duet "ALAN" in the international "Baltic Stage" festival.
Creating the opportunity for talented artists to attract attention to themselves and to exchange of creative ideas is one of the aims of the festival.
About 600 persons applied to compete in various categories and age groups, with only twenty-seven contestants reaching the final stage of the competition in the “Vocal” category. Winners of first, second, and third places were determined in the final stage by six members of an international jury.
First place, and the honor of “Golden Laureate” of the competition, was awarded to “ALAN” in recognition of the group's immense talent. Altynai Jusupova and Akyl Callaghan performed two songs – The Prayer and Esimde (“Эсимде”) - during their two competition days. They made a strong impression not only on the audience and jury, but on all the other contestants and their instructors as well. Many in attendance said that is was the first time they'd heard such an outstanding performance. Immediately after their performance, “ALAN” received an invitation to a September 2015 international competition in Kyiv (Ukraine).
Callaghan and Jusupova participated in the 2015 edition of AUCA's annual Stream competition, in which they won first and second places respectively. After their initial meeting at AUCA during rehearsals for Stream, between tours, they decided to sing a duet.
The Baltic Stage Festival 2015 was hosted from June 15-19 on the shores of the Baltic Sea.
