On June 29, 2015, the American University of Central Asia started to become functional on the new campus building is located in Micro-District 12 of Bishkek.
AUCA President Andrew Wachtel is pleased of the work done.
“We worked on this project for about 4 years. At the beginning we had only drawings; it was difficult to imagine how it will look like in reality. It is pleasant to see how our idea came true. It is just wonderful. The new campus is the perfect place for studying and working for our students, faculty and staff. This is a big step forward for our university and community, because this unique building is the first of its kind in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The university building reflects its spirit. It is comfortable and with all required necessary conditions for education. The university can expand and develop new education programs. Within next year, we will work on this.
Freshmen will be able to study on the new campus as of August 2015. We are still in the process of moving in, getting accustomed, and looking for what is still missing,” - said Andrew Wachtel.
Major parts of departments have completely moved and have already begun to work in their new offices.
“Today is our first working day on the new campus. All of us are positively impressed, we like everything. It still feels unusual, but I’m confident we will cope with this. I think, all students, faculty and staff will be pleased. We waited long enough, and finally, this day has arrived!” – shared AUCA staff member Asel Umetalieva.
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for October 31, 2015.
