In August 2014, the President of Mongolia, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, met with the President of the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), Andrew Wachtel. During the meeting, discussions revolved around problems of the modern development of educational systems in universities and issues of supporting talented youths. During the conversation between President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj and Andrew Wachtel, a number of agreements were reached regarding further cooperation and collaboration between Mongolia and AUCA. In a short time, students from Mongolia will be able to study at AUCA.
President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj noted that, “AUCA is the only well-known international university in Central Asia”, and that he is “sincerely delighted that the Central Asian region is becoming an innovative platform for the implementation of important economic projects”.
Andrew Wachtel in turn spoke about the construction of AUCA’s new campus, and talked about the strategies of AUCA’s development for the coming years. It was also noted that in the near future, there is a plan to open a consulate of Mongolia in Kyrgyzstan, which will lead to the exchange of students from Mongolia to Kyrgyzstan.
