A Special Ice Bucket Challenge in AUCA Since he was only 6 months old, 8 year-old Tynchtykbek uulu Bakhtiyar has struggled for his life against skin cancer. Since it began, his parents have tried to earn the required funds for his treatment and expensive medicine. But at the moment, the situation is not under control as his healthcare costs are extremely high. His cancer is progressing every day, and it is hard to keep up. Students of the American University of Central Asia are not indifferent to the tragedy of this family. In June of this year, Bakhtiyar’s family was forced to call on the public for aid. Students are now contributing to the child’s healthcare fun, which is only increasing. Students of different departments and courses have started their own fund raising campaign, installed a moneybox in the main hall of AUCA, and have begun raising funds for his treatment. They decided to use the Ice Bucket Challenge as the driving force of this charity, in order to draw as much attention as possible. The drive has started and all people moved by Bakhtiyar’s situation should donate 100 Kyrgyz soms for his treatment, or pour down a bucket of ice cold water in order to raise awareness. Each attendee can then challenge his friends to do the same. AUCA students are doing everything they can to help the situation and others similarly in need. They support healthy lifestyles, enjoyment, and most important they are attentive to and attract others’ attention to the problems of needy families. Join us!
