April 8, 2014
On April 4, 2014, University partners and potential donors got a tour of AUCA’s new campus. Bai Tushum Bank, Kyrgyzstan Commercial Bank, American Chamber of Commerce, ACCELS and other organizations attended. Next year, our students will study in the brand new, modern, ecologically sound building dubbed the AUCA Green Project.
The new campus will cover 175,000 square meters, three times larger than current AUCA facilities. Unique to Central Asia, an innovative geothermal system will use sustainable energy from underground water systems to heat and cool the building, thus demonstrating a forward thinking approach to non-traditional energy. The state-of-the-art building will use only 15% of the electricity that similar Bishkek buildings do and will be unique teaching tool for our new Department of Environment.
AUCA’s novel green project was realized thanks to the generous support of local and international partners.
Tour guests were lucky to have AUCA President Andrew Wachtel personally guide them through the new campus. He showed them the main auditoriums and rooms while discussing the importance of construction, as well as the University’s prospects for further development. Guests hung onto the President’s every word as he answered their questions. In sum, the tour was highly successful.
Another tour is planned for one month from now. All companies interested in mutually beneficial collaboration with AUCA are invited to attend.
