For the past five years, the Kyrgyz Public Television and Radio Company (KTRK), has aired a reality show called, “Winter Games with celebrities." On the show, singers, actors, politicians, and others participate in a team skiing competition.
In the previous two competitions, American University in Central Asia President Andrew Wachtel successfully defended the honor of the university by taking first place. This year, beautiful student, athlete, and komsomol,BermetIsmailova will represent the AUCA community for the first time. Bermet is the pride of AUCA. She is an activist who combines her work with her studies and a dancer who choreographs and directs the “Mirrors” youth musical theater. Her dream is to become a successful lawyer.
Filming of the competition occurred on January 29 at the Töö-Ashuu Ski Resort. We could hardly believe thebreathtaking our eyes at the sight of the valley covered in clouds pierced by snow-capped mountaintops. It seemed like the top of the world, with all of the usual troubles far below. Thankfully, the skiing wasn’t difficult; the tracks were designed for beginner skiers and snowboarders.
Nazira Jetigenova, Yulia Rutskaya, Janneta Bobkova, Bektemir Mamyusupov, Max Begaliev, and other famous people were among the twenty participants. Competitors were divided into four teams named “Tynchtyk,” “Tynai,” “Emgek,” and “Töö-Ashuu.” Our worthy representative, Bermet, joined leader and show business rep Nazira Berdigulova, Ulan Barpiev, DayirIsmadiyarov, and ToktobekAsanaliev on team “Tynchtyk.” Nobody wanted to lose and the competition was fierce. There were glorious victories and devastating falls (thankfully there was no shortage of cushioning snow). Teams were well matched, and in the end, little mistakes made all the difference. Bermet completed the track with no serious errors and demonstrated high quality slope skills. Teams “Emgek” and “Töö-Ashuu” were the most consistent over the day and will compete for the grand prize. Teams “Tynchtyk” and “Tynai” will compete heartily for third place. The show will be continued on the first national channel of Kyrgyzstan. Folks, let’s support Bermet and wish her good luck in the next round of competition!
